Woods And Ray Bradbury Quotes

I was gathering images all of my life, storing them away, and forgetting them. -Ray Bradbury (Dandelion Wine Introduction)

There was a feeling of Autumn coming to last a million years- Ray Bradbury (The October Game)

The Autumn leaves blew over the moonlit pavement in such a way as to make the girl who was moving there seem fixed to a sliding walk, letting the motion of the wind and the leaves carry her forward  -Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451)

That country where it is always turning late in that year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay. That country composed in the main of the cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun. That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at midnight on the empty walks sound like rain -Ray Bradbury (October Country)

The seller of lightening rods arrived just ahead of the storm -Ray Bradbury (Something Wicked This Way Comes)

I'll hold onto the world tight someday. I've got one finger on it now; that's a beginning -Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451)

There were only the great diamonds and sapphires and emerald mists and velvet inks of space, with God's voice mingling among the crystal fires -Ray Bradbury (The Illustrated Man)

You're not like the others, I've seen a few; I know. When I talk, you look at me. When I said something about the moon, you looked at the moon, last night. The others would never do that -Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451)

I'm alive...Thinking about it, noticing it, it's new. You do things and you don't watch. Then all of a sudden you look and see what you're doing and it's the first time, really -Ray Bradbury (Dandelion Wine)

I want to feel all there is to feel, he thought. Let me feel tired, now, let me feel tired. I mustn't forget I'm alive, I know I'm alive, I mustn't forget it tonight or tomorrow or the day after that -Ray Bradbury (Dandelion Wine)

Brief Monster Hunting Prep: Vampire Edition

With October now beginning in all of it's glory, there are the classic monsters that tend to emerge from their apparent hibernation over the rest of the year. In this case it's vampires. Stories of vampire-like creatures have always been around it seems. In the past, the way to prevent vampires was to generally do things to the corpse to make sure it was very, very dead. Considering the penchant people had in the past for accidently burying people alive, this seems like an efficient system. Some of the ideas they came up with were very imaginative. One hopes the corpses were truly dead to begin with.

Anyways, there are a few general rules involved with vampires and they're pretty well known, but for the fun of it I'll mention some of them anyway.

Rule #1

Don't be stupid is usually a good rule. And a vampire hunting you is usually not a good idea. On the odd chance you become friends with a vampire, be prepared that they might have a bit of a crisis some time into your friendship.

Unofficial Rule #2

Common sightings of vampires tend to be in very gothic buildings. Especially any towns with hills that are right next to a town that are relatively flat otherwise.

The especially attractive variety tend to hang around highschools. The jury is still out on why they choose highschools. Some guesses as to why this phenomenon occurs are, they're creeps, they peaked in highschool and can't move on from their glory days, college is expensive...the list goes on. Although in fairness to the vampires, the highschools they pick have deceptively older than regular sixteen years olds. The attractive variety tend to date bland obsessive types that are always gorgeous but don't believe it. Vampires of the attractive and sassy personality seem to be the most popular.

Is this A Rule? #3

The adverse affect of garlic and crosses seem to be dwindling amongst the newer vampires. Classic vampires tend to still be affected.

Counting things seems to depend on the vampire.

Holy water seems to be be the same. Old vampires are still affected, younger vampires have been spotted using holy water.

The elusive sighting

Rule #4

When hunting vampires never say this...Unless it's ironic, in which case go ahead.

Rule #5

A good playlist is key.

Some recommendations are...

Another One Bites The Dust- Queen

Lonely Vampire- Weathers

Creepin'- Hayley Williams

Monsters- All Time Low

Rule #6

Wooden stakes still seem to have an affect on vampires. Good boots for vampire hunting are also helpful.

Rule #7

Blood of course is the best bait for catching vampires. If you have a particularly stupid vampire, fake blood is fine.

Rule #8

Most vampires still have a problem with the daylight. Some have somehow evolved past this, but pale skin still seems to be a defining feature.

I don't know why it says crossed

Rule #9

Food and appropriate hunting drinks are important on a vampire hunt. It just makes the expedition more enjoyable. Being hangry sucks.

Rule #10

Aesthetics are key to vampire hunting. It is October after all.

Anyways, Happy Hunting. Happy October. All the things.

"Beware the autumn people... For some autumn comes early, stays late through life...For these beings fall is the ever normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond..."

Ray Bradbury (Something Wicked This Way Comes)

My general vibe while taking photos

I've been trying to sort of pull together some fall outfits and look aesthetic. I seemed to have missed the girl gene where I can just naturally seem good at doing that. But I'm trying to work something out.

Sorry for such a messy and terrible quality post,
I was trying to go for aesthetically clunky.

I'd promise the next post is going to be more aesthetic but we'll see... I'm just a little disorganized.
But anyways, Happy first day of Fall officially!

Sheer Decadence

It has been a long running dream of Skye's to eat a proper French Macron and then she found a cute French Pastry shop around so we went. I'm very grateful to her, eating macrons was a whole experience. Proper macrons taste as stunning as they look and we ate a whole bag between us sitting in a parking lot.

Because of aesthetics, we came back another day for more so we could eat macrons while we watched the Marie Antoinette movie starring Kirsten Dunst. The movie was stunning and decadent and funny and it was just gorgeous really.

Another gorgeous movie is Wes Anderson's 'Grand Budapest Hotel'
It's hilarious as well and it reminded me of Series of Unfortunate Event's in it's quirky, quick-paced humour.

One that just deserves to be on this list is the new Emma (2020)
I clearly am not, and never will be, over this movie

If you're looking for movies that look like macrons these are them

Wishing On Sunflowers

My mom planted a few sunflower seeds earlier this summer and I've anxiously but excitedly been waiting for them to grow. Anxiously only because we are terrible at keeping plants alive. Never wrap seasonal feelings of closure around a plant blooming; it's stressful.

I had a ridiculous amount of emotions tied up in this sunflower and it bloomed and it's pretty and everything I wanted it to be.

Special thanks to my sister who gave me a hand doing this and almost died tripping over a bucket in the dark and landing face first. She was completely fine. It was more funny than anything which sounds terrible but normally it's me falling over something.

Originally I wanted to pair the sunflower with white fairy-lights but I couldn't find any. I actually prefer the coloured lights in hindsight.
