Running Wild In Impractical Outfits Tag

So I'm not sure if this exists or not already, but I'm trying my hand at creating a tag. Photos are from Pinterest. I might do this tag too at some point, but I'm probably going to take awhile so I thought I'd get it out there. I don't have an official header for this tag so I thought you guys could put a song, or a photo, or just leave it empty if you prefer.

The Rules I guess

- Put a link to my blog (Autumn Ink)
-Put a link to your post in the comments
(You don't have to, but I'd love to see your answers)
-Tag people if you want
(this tag has me as it's creator, it was never going to be done well)
-Have fun with the tag and feel free to add things, change locations, or whatever you want.
-The outfits you choose can be from anywhere you like (movies, books, shows, real life, etc.) and they can be as practical or as impractical as you'd like. Choose with as much flagrant disregard for custom or rules as you choose.
-You have to bring a different fictional character of your choosing to each location

At the Beach (Or the Holiday House from the song 'the last great american dynasty- Taylor Swift')-

Car Wash-

University of Glasgow-

Abandoned Castle-

A Fictional Place of Your Choosing-

Picnic-

Summer Roadtrip-

In the Woods-

Dancing in the Rain-

Paris-

In a cottage with a garden-

Circus or Masquerade-

On the Moor (a tract of uncultivated upland)-

Fun Bonus Question-
It's the 20's (or some other era) and your husband's been mysteriously murdered. What's your outfit?

I Tag (if you guys want to do it)

Feel free to do the tag even if I haven't tagged you.

There's Something Iconic About Pink And Yellow

5 Iconic Pink Outfits: (in no particular order)

1. Jackie Kennedy's Pink Suit

2. Marylin Monroe's pink dress (Gentleman Prefer Blondes)

3. The 'Pink's' jackets (Grease)

4. Marie Antoinette (Marie Antoinette 2006)

5. Audrey Hepburn's pink dress (Breakfast at Tiffany's) (I haven't officially watched this one to the end yet)

5 Iconic Yellow Outfits:

1. Clueless (1995)

2. Belle (Beauty and the Beast 1991)

3. The Bride (Kill Bill 2003) (I haven't seen this one yet either, but the outfit is really famous)

4. La La Land

5. Mirror Mirror

There's just something about pink and yellow. Especially blocks of pink or yellow. Something about these colours, particularly in an outfit, that make it iconic. Although that is true for most colours since blocks of colour usually grab our attention anyways, but I'm curious as to why these colours stick out so much. Maybe it's simply the fact that pink and yellow are very bright, showy, care-free colours and thus, they make an impression with all it's timeless simplicity. Maybe it's not any deep sort of answer except that pink and yellow are just fun colours. So many things have a deep meaning, or require some heavy thought that having the bright pop of it feels like a relief. It's pretty, so we enjoy it without worrying about it, because there are no consequences liking a colour. Maybe it's the contrast that appeals to us. Maybe there is a deeper answer in some cases. Maybe it's all of the above. It doesn't have to be one thing.

Common colour theory associations with yellow according to, alumni.sae.edu/2016/03/08/what-do-colors-mean-and-represent/: Yellow is a color associated with sun. It symbolizes optimism, energy, joy, happiness and friendship. It might also stand for intellect. On the contrary, yellow can indicate jealousy, betrayal, illness and danger

Pink is one of those colours that is usually seen as a very feminine colour. Sometimes pink has been associated with being weak, being girly, unable to take things seriously. A lot of people, myself included, seemed to go through the same 'against anything girly' thing because for whatever reason we thought that enjoying feminine things meant you couldn't be smart, or you were weak or whatever it was. At least as far as I went, I never cared if other people liked it, but I just didn't like it personally at the time. It seems silly to me now, but it's kind of nice to know that I wasn't the only one who had the same aversion to it at the time.

And that goes for guys too, guys that liked pink were strange and obviously couldn't be manly at the same time. But now, despite the fact that throughout film history in particular we've clearly always loved pink and yellow, the general cultural view on pink (or yellow) seems to be that it's more of an empowering colour now. Pink is a colour to have fun with. Loving pink doesn't always equate to being silly or vapid anymore. Which again, there was never anything wrong with pink or yellow, and clearly a lot of people have always loved pink and yellow, it's just sometimes that's how it's been portrayed. Now movies like Clueless for example, took advantage of this stereotype by taking the (at first) seemingly spoiled, rich, dumb blonde girl who only liked to shop and wear (iconic btw) outfits by dressing her up, reveling in the femininity of it while also fleshing her out and showing that she was much more than a 2-dimensional mall-shopping teenager.

Some (More or Less) Iconic Outfits that only have a touch of pink or yellow

1. Grace (Ready or Not)

2. Harley Quinn (Birds of Prey)

3. Emma (Emma 2020) (Emma always has some yellow around her wherever she is)

4. Harry Styles

5. My Neighbor Totoro

6. Debora (Baby Driver)

So what do you guys think about pink and yellow? Like it, hate it? Why do you think it's so iconic? What's some of your favourite iconic outfits that have these colours? There's so many outfits I could have put in this post but I didn't. I've been wanting to do this post for awhile and a pink-suited vampire finally pushed me to get it done. I might go watch Pretty in Pink for the first time after this. It seems fitting.

A Spontaneous Post For A Couple Internet Comments That Made Me Happy

I had put A Cinderella Story on (for the first time in months) and short story shorter I read this comment on Dodie's Build A Problem- Complete Visual Album while I was watching it and the sheer joy I felt over the coincidence was incredible.

I was looking up Ready or Not on my local libraries website and I started looking at the reviews/comments on it. Most of the comments were the usual 'great movie, liked it, hated it...' that kind of thing. And then I found possibly my favourite comment ever. I have no idea why someone wrote it, why it's even here specifically, or anything, but I love it an inordinate amount.

Also keep in mind, Ready or Not is a Horror/Comedy in which the main character, Grace, gets married to a son of a big generational gaming family that got their wealth/power through incredibly nefarious means. Whenever someone new joins the family they have to pick a card from this deck to see what game they're going to play. It's sort of an initiation thing. Anyways Grace picks up the one bad card, 'Hide and Seek,' which means the family tries to kill her before dawn. What this library comment has to do with the movie I have no idea.

Boy Howdy do I have a story for you! I was out in the woods around 5 in the afternoon, cause it would be too dark if it was five in the morning in these particular woods, hiking around and I found somethin'. I found me a leprechaun. he had a furry had and was ridin' a horse and was swingin' his sword left and right through the air. Now I thought to myself I have got to get a picture of this but wouldn't you know it all I had on me was an a4 pencil and some damn fine construction paper. So I sat myself down one a nearby log and got to sketchin'. The leprechaun had not yet noticed me as I put pencil to paper. The look in his eyes belayed how much he truly cared for this god forsaken world, which was made readily apparent to me that he did not care for it at all. Soon the wind started to pick up and a low symphony of noises from the fauna that surrounded me broke the silence. That's when I knew I had found that greatest subject to draw in my life. I started to move my hand faster and faster as I created shades and cross-hatches across the page. NO-one would hold me back from creating my masterpiece. soon the blood was pumping, I could feel it run through me, carrying my will and my faith. The lines were being formed, the curves were breathed to life. I felt Dada and Buonaretti speak to me! I god damn-it my lead broke!

- (Theoretical_Onsie, 5 stars)

Also random, but does anyone happen to know what kind of bird (baby bird I guess) this is?

I found it while I was grabbing the mail a couple days ago. It's wing was injured and we did what we could for it but sadly it didn't make it overnight. It was adorable though and I'm curious what kind it was.

An Argument Against Redeeming Characters

First of all, I was very inspired by Skye's Loki post and Samantha's slightly click-baity title on her love triangle post. I've been wanting to do a post like this for awhile, but those two posts gave me the inspirational push I needed to finally get this done. I should mention that I do believe in redeeming characters (and a character redemption done right? absolutely fantastic), but hear me out. And obviously all of this is personal opinion and it's going to have flaws. Use or break the rules to your advantage however you want.

To start with, characters usually don't realize that they're characters. Generally, good or bad characters aren't going around trying to be 'good' or 'evil'. In fact, especially with evil characters in particular, they usually don't think they're that bad. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but when there's conscious decisions to make 'good' or 'evil' plans it's usually done as a comedic thing because it's an obvious caricature archetype. Think of the beginning of Megamind for example, Good guy vs Bad Guy, one is constantly plotting 'evil' the other is always ruining his plan and saving the day.

Part of the problem with redeeming characters (aside from the fact that we apparently have no idea what to do with characters once they have been redeemed except kill them off, because apparently you can only be one of the 'good ones' if you never intentionally did anything wrong *I'm definitely not bitter about anyone specific *coughs* Kylo Ren *coughs again*) is that it treats characters like a formula. Characters (unless you have a really good reason) should never be a formula. 'Look at that character, they're good now. Did you miss it? Let's play this again. they're good now. They show regret, they have the personality of a paper towel because paper towels equate to good, and they're also completely useless to everyone now. Isn't this fantastic? Guys, did you miss it?...'

I will argue that characters should never be thought of as characters, but as actual people because thinking of them as characters is already thinking about them as a list. Based on who this person is with their specific views and personality, how would they actually react to this situation? what would they do? Regardless of whether you think something is a good idea or not, what would this person actually do? Essentially what I'm saying is, don't try to make reasons for what they do, just let them do it. The reasons will be fairly obvious given the person's personality if it was in character. If they start making good decisions, that's great, but don't call attention to it. Some characters aren't even looking to be forgiven.

And redemption isn't a box that you can just put a character into. Look at this guy, he was bad but now he's good. Because no, to quote Series of Unfortunate Events, 'People aren't either wicked or noble, They're like chef salads, with good things and bad things chopped and mixed together in a vinaigrette of confusion and conflict.'

It's part of the reason why terrible people are such a tragedy, you can see so much potential, you see the good things in the person, and yet, they chose to waste who they are although obviously there's a lot more wrong with it. But it's why we're always kind of confused by who, for example, the 'murderer' is in a movie. 'But they're such a good (fill-in-blank), they always did this nice thing, they were always so respectful...' It's why a lot of the innocent things they did become so tainted and seem so much more horrific after that, because you left realizing that they weren't who you thought they were. And maybe some of the things they did were genuinely innocent, but that's where the chef salad thing comes in. However, just because they did something good doesn't mean they are a good person. Same with, just because a person is nice to you doesn't mean they respect you.

Again, people usually have reasons why they do the things they do, but they weren't always intending on getting the end result. I think it's pretty safe to say that addicts, as an example, weren't setting out to become an addict. And while I can't even comprehend the struggle that an actual addict goes through to get clean, the emotional process of trying to heal, both the good and the ugly, are very intrinsically human.

We as people have our little victories (be they seen or unseen), we have doubts, I think humans are generally suspicious in our natures, we all have walls (be they things you just don't put all over the internet, or other things entirely), the things that make us happy, the things that we don't talk about, we all have our screw-ups, we all have our things that are very specific to each of us. We can be entirely different people, we don't always agree with each other but we're still here. And whether your trying to keep the peace, just doing what you can, or whatever it is, you don't know what the future holds. We as people are just trying to do whatever it is we're doing. We're not planning our over-arching character development, it happens along the way and sometimes you don't even realize you've changed until much later. You're a work in progress, regardless of what the result is.

This is not mine. I don't know who this
belongs to. I found it on Pinterest and
all credit goes to the artist that made this.

And that's how it should be with characters. Regardless of who the character is, overall humans all have a similar nature. Now that can be messed with, there's characters like Sauron from The Lord Of The Rings, that were never meant to be complex and not every character has to be complex. And some guys, like Joker from The Dark Knight are just one of those men that wants to watch the world burn. So they'll try to burn it, and they'll enjoy it. It's not necessarily a statement (although he was trying to prove a point in the movie) but who he is. And his actions follow accordingly. Sometimes the best villains aren't that nuanced, they're just having out there having fun and while we don't condone it, we love it.

Humans are intrinsically emotional beings. Whether you are more of a logical person or not, we all have emotions. And that is something that can be exploited (in the best way) in media. You can make anyone care about anything if you give them some sort of emotional connection. It's why boring subjects can be enthralling if the person talking is passionate about it. You see what it means to them, and thus, in some small way, you care. You see a thing someone else would like and you're like 'hey, they would like this'.

At the end of the day, everyone wants to be cared about, and to care about something. Whether the thing that they care about is good or bad doesn't really matter to the person that cares about it, they just care about it. We can care about characters but not condone their actions. We're proud of a character for making a good decision. And not everything is for everyone and that's okay. Making something that's for everyone isn't even something that's physically possible anyways. And sometimes you'll like something and you don't have an explanation (or you don't feel like explaining or justifying it) and that's also fine. Obviously there are lines, but I don't always need to explain where all the lines are. You guys get it. And that's my point, not everything needs to be said.
People will do things because they care about something and they want to be understood.

If someone wants to do something badly enough, mostly likely they're going to do it. Will they always get what they were trying to get? Obviously not, but sometimes the thing that you ended up getting was far better than the thing you thought you wanted. Sometimes a character realizes that the thing that they wanted was terrible. And sometimes the character does get what they want and we're all proud of them. Personal growth isn't about getting thing the you wanted, it's a mental state.

If a character wants to be better, they will attempt to be better. Are they going to become an entirely different person? No. Just because they work on fixing their toxic traits doesn't mean they don't have the same tendencies. (To clarify, there are some things that I can't get behind no matter what) It's a process. Did the character still do things in the past? Yes. And there is things that will happen because of that. If anything, that's perfect for plot.

Even if a terrible person becomes better, they still have to live with the knowledge of what they did. Too often, we just kill them off because 'well now that they're good, how can they live with that? They'll just have to sacrifice themselves to make up for it'. Which is fine, but we do it so often, that it leaves me wondering if we even know how to let them live after that.

One real life example that I think about is Paul (formerly known as Saul) in the Bible. He killed a bunch of people, or at least was the reason why a lot of people were imprisoned, tortured, and all the rest of that. He mentions it several times. He justified the torture and murder of innocents, in fact he sought them out.  The funny thing that I find about him though is the fact that everyone seems to think of him as one of the greatest people in the New Testament. He went from murderer to a guy trying to help people save their souls. He sang in prison and he wasn't sitting there complaining the whole time. But I've always wondered how much of that was from guilt. Like how many times did he want to complain but he didn't because he was thinking about all the people he sent into this same situation and who held fast until the end? In his mind, how could he do any less? He thought of himself as forgiven, but he never thought that he was better than anyone else because of that. He still called himself the lowest of the low. And yet, what would we have done without Paul?

And sometimes villains can just become the weird uncle that everyone sorta mildly questions why they're there but they all pretty much just end up accepting it and that's fantastic too. Sometimes you shouldn't take things too seriously. It's a movie, you're allowed to have fun with it. You can justify a lot of things in a fictional setting that you would never in real life.

So again, if a character is makes better decisions, that's great, but don't call it out. Let them be themselves. If they realize they're wrong, or they do something for someone else, or whatever it is, let them do it. But don't make a point of it if you can. We aren't here to redeem the characters, let them save themselves.

And afterwards, when they are are being better, don't forget who they are. They are still themselves. A better character doesn't mean that they're perfect, it means they're trying. A terrible character has already pushed lines, pretending that they won't cross those lines is disingenuous to the character.

Don't redeem characters, if the character wants to, that's what they're going to do it anyways. Redemption can be an end goal, but it's really the stuff in between that matters. You don't have to follow the formula and save them, you don't need to excuse what they've done, and you don't need to pull plot-twists that make it so they never did the thing in the first place just so it isn't as bad. And you don't have to constantly be pointing out that they are trying to be better. Just let the character be and enjoy seeing where this particular story takes you. Because a story shouldn't be a formula, it's an experience.

So thank you for listening to my ted talk in which I didn't say half the points that I meant to, and what I did say doesn't even begin to cover it.

Q&A

Thank you to everyone for sending in questions! This post has been really fun to work on and all your guys' questions were great! So without further ado, let's get into it.

 McKayla's questions

What's your third favorite color?

That question entirely depends on my mood, the season, the weather, everything really.

I've always liked green, purple, teal...the contrast of black and pink has been a fun one for me lately.

If you're looking for really specific ones, there's the colour of these leaves.

Favorite type of flower?

Sunflowers are probably my favourite, but there's so many good ones.
One I remember being obsessed with when I was younger was the Sagebrush Mariposa Tulip

Not my photo and I'm not entirely sure who it belongs to.
Found it off Google images.

I remember stumbling across this flower once when I was really little and I thought it was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. I had no idea what it was so I drew it obsessively trying to see if anyone else knew. Clearly I found out eventually. I found these flowers so rarely that on the odd occasion that I did find one, it felt like a sacred moment. I took things like this very seriously as a kid, and it's almost reassuring to know that I've always been this dramatic. The knowledge of this flower's existence is deeply imbedded into my memory.

Favorite animal?

There's a lot...foxes, raccoons (although I've run away from raccoons a surprising amount of times considering this answer), white deer, crows/ravens make me happy when I see them. Apparently any animal that makes me sound like a witch are my favourites. I named a rather insane looking crow Jonathan Strange, and a perfectly normal looking crow Simon. I'm an INFP, naming random things has always been deeply encoded into my DNA. And when I say this crow seemed a little insane I mean it. Despite that, I kept feeding it fries sitting in a van while aggressively using the window button just in case he decided to fly up into the van.

Jonathan Strange was named after a character that made himself go temporarily mad and Simon was named after a character played by Robert Sheehan in The City of Bones movie with Lilly Collins.

Jonathan Strange (Left)

Simon. Robert Sheehan is so underrated in this movie.

Who are some fictional characters that you think you're like?

There's a lot.
I'm just going to give three names of characters I think I possibly have some similarities to.

Lane (Gilmore Girls)

Jaskier (The Witcher)

Either Mulder or Scully depending on the day

I am both of them

Favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer character (from what you've seen so far)?

Aside from Buffy herself, maybe Spike and Oz.
Giles and Willow are great too though. Drucilla is kind of insane, love her too.
Angel is so clearly uncomfortable all the time it's kind of hilarious.

What's your favorite musical?

Not counting movie musicals...

Hadestown (my current favourite)

Phantom of the Opera (2011 Royal Albert Hall)                                            (the one that started it all, and will forever be a top favourite)

Dear Evan Hansen

Newsies

Hamilton

Do you like coffee?

I love coffee! It's the best and there's so many ways to have it. Although lately I've been drinking it black.

What is your OTP (you can do more than one if you want to)?

Kit and Count Olaf (Series of Unfortunate Events)

Kevin and Casey (Split/Glass)

Damon and Bonnie (Vampire Diaries)

I have more OTP's than this but there's 3 that I maybe don't mention as often even though they're amazing.

What is/was your favorite subject in school?

I finished an English Lit course last fall. Having someone grade your work is stressful but I actually had fun with the course itself.

What's your favorite character trope?

Final girl, monster boi, accidently adopting a kid/ the dad trope (especially with murder dads, but really I'm a sucker for it regardless), fake dating, when a character puts all their excessive amounts of weapons down...there's quite a few.

I'd forgotten before rewatching Spirited Away recently that
it had a monster boi.

Keep in mind, the guy on the right is also the dragon. I love the contrast.
And they're whole dynamic was so cute.

Favorite dessert?

Cheesecake maybe?

Skye's questions

Favourite character of the moment?

I have so many...some of the most recent ones include

Alfie Solomon and Thomas Shelby (Peaky Blinders)

The 'Floof' intern, and pretty much everyone in Vincenzo so far (Vincenzo)

Emily, Miranda, Andrea, Nigel (Devil Wears Prada)

Tonya (I, Tonya)

Can we talk about I, Tonya? Because I didn't expect to love this movie as much as I did.
Same with Devil Wears Prada but for different reasons.

What’s a question you wish you were asked?

This question makes me both forget every question I've ever wanted to be asked and a fear of wasting this opportunity.

What's something I'm always on the lookout for?

The alternate uncut version of Penelope (with James McAvoy and Christina Ricci). I know it exists. The version of it that you can usually find is the cut version. I would pay money to get the version where James McAvoy and Christina Ricci swear. There's two specific sentences that I know happen but they're cut in the copy I own. Is that a weird thing to want? I don't care, if anyone knows where I can find a reasonably priced copy for the alternate version. I would be eternally grateful. Although Penelope, regardless of the version, is just amazing.

Something you’d recommend to anyone?

Mitchell's vs. The Machines (2021)

A Map of Tiny Perfect Things (2021)

Spirited Away (2001)
(The pure happiness that this movie gives me is incredible)

Pacific Rim (2013)

These have pretty wide-spread appeal I think.
Really just go to Skye's 'I wish I was Persephone' post.
It's great, and I'm shamelessly stealing from it.

Favourite type of music?

I'm terrible at knowing the genre of different songs. If I like a song, I like it. I think I like songs from a variety of genres, but grain of salt. Indie/Alternative and Poprock according to the radio are a couple favourites.

What’s something or someone you like that’s problematic?

I sort of know a spoiler for a Vincenzo character that I know is going to be problematic, so here's to loving a currently unproblematic character knowing full well what I'm getting into and being kind of excited to see how it goes.

Violette's Questions

Most disappointing book you've ever read?

I can't remember what my most disappointing book is, but the most recent one was I'd started reading the book The Queen's Gambit. I was doing completely fine until a character I wasn't expecting to did something that made me hesitant to continue. I'd been really excited to read it too. I adore the show, but I've decided to leave the book alone for now.

Are you on Spotify?

I'm not, no.

What is your favorite holiday?

As far as the big ones go, possibly Halloween and Christmas. Although Christmas can be really stressful so that definitely puts a damper on it, but when it isn't stressful it's fantastic. Thanksgiving (my slapdash version in particular) is a recent favourite.

This one isn't an actual holiday but I have a weird obsession with the Ides of March. For some reason it's important to me that I know when it's happening and that I tell someone else that it's happening.
Anyone else of a weird obsession with the Ides of March? I can't be the only one.

Favorite flavor of ice cream?

Haggan Daas Strawberry Ice cream. With their Coffee flavour being my close runner-up second.
It's genuinely changed my life.

What is your first ever fandom? (that you can remember)

Sherlock Holmes in general is one that I don't remember when I first saw it, I just always remember being obsessed with it. Some of my other earliest ones are Edward Scissorhands, Lilo and Stitch (or Disney in general particularly the Renaissance era), The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Spirit-Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad- Legend of the Sevens Seas, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Land Before Time (the first one)...the list goes on

MovieCritic's Questions

What is something that everyone should know about you?

The most important thing you should know about me is that if I ever got into an even slightly torturous situation, I would spill everything. I would be that one kid from the Goonies who confesses to every little thing that he's ever done wrong.
I also have a terrible memory so the combination is rather ironic.

I have a habit of changing my mind on something or change what I'm doing as soon as I say it. It's not intentional it just sort of happens and I'll suddenly catch myself doing it. Especially for dumb little things. I would say it's coincidence, but it's happened too many times for it to be that. Take from that what you will.

If you were to go on a quest with fictional characters, who would you choose (you can pick up to 8)?

So I don't think this was the intention of this question but the quest that I'm choosing is putting everyone into a large van and going on a short roadtrip/getting slushies quest while blasting the radio.

I propose that the following 8 characters come with on a slushie run:
(keep in mind, this probably is not a group that would mesh together very easily. There's so many characters that I want to bring. One grouping I was considering was pretty much the whole cast of Vincenzo going on a road-tripish slushie run, but I wanted to spread it out more.)

Jaskier, Geralt, and Ciri (The Witcher)

Geralt (left) Ciri (right) she's practically his adopted kid and
it's so cute from the little we see. I can't wait for season 2.

Geralt (left) Jaskier (right) I desperately need Geralt to apologize to
Jaskier so I can enjoy the whole family dynamic.

Frank and Amy (Punisher)

Joel and Minnow (Love and Monsters)

Klaus Hargreeves (Umbrella Academy)

Can we just take a moment to appreciate his jacket here? I love it.

What is your favorite adaptation of your favorite book/story?

Possibly the BBC adaptation of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and the movie for 'We Have Always Lived In The Castle'

The We Have Always Lived In The Castle movie has a more dramatic darker edge to it (in some respects), but I thought the addition/changes suited the movie. To be fair I did watch the movie before I read the book so I might be biased. It feels very real.

Oh! and Coraline is really good. It is a bit different from the book but they are still pretty similar. Neil Gaiman actually requested that Henry Selick (who had fully intended on making it as exact as he could) have fun with interpreting it and not worry too much about making everything exactly the same. So if and author gives you his blessing, you go with it.

Are you watching any TV shows right now? What are they?

Some shows I've recently finished are, Punisher. Community, and The Witcher (season 1 at least. Not sure when season 2 is dropping exactly)
Daredevil
New Girl
Vincenzo
Peaky Blinders
Rewatching some Parks and Rec

What is a movie that you love regardless of flaws?

City of Bones (with Lilly Collins)

A Cinderella Story (with Hillary Duff)
I think it is incredibly important that I also state that I think A Cinderella Story is genuinely one of the greatest movies of all time. And no, I don't take criticism on that.

Samantha's Questions

Do you know your Hogwarts house, and if so, what is it?

I'm a Ravenclaw!

What's your favorite biome?

Anything with moss in it, I'm happy.

What's your favorite kind of tea?

Peppermint and Red Rose (Orange Pekoe) are my go to teas.
Earl Grey Vanilla/London Fogs are amazing

Are you a mood reader or a planning reader, or somewhere in between?

I was going to say somewhere in between but I think I'm more of a mood reader. It's actually a bit frustrating at times because sometimes I'll be excited for a book and I just can't get into it even if it's one that ends up becoming a favourite.

Not always, but it happens more frequently than I'd like.

Do you have any siblings?

I'm the oldest of 9 actually

Livia's Questions

Most annoying tropes/lazy writing plots (like for me, one is unnecessary secret keeping that causes a big huge fight later)

That's definitely a frustrating one.
One less plot related one, but being constantly told how smart, strong, or whatever about a character is annoying. If you have to keep reminding me, you probably failed at what you were trying to go for.

Do you like classics, if so what are your favorites?

I do like classics, I haven't read many of them considering how many classics are out there, but I have read quite a few. Some favourites are Something Wicked This Way Comes, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, The Blue Castle, I Capture the Castle, (if Howl's Moving Castle doesn't count, it should) The Secret Garden, Tuck Everlasting, Wuthering Heights (it's aesthetic and the characters are all terrible people but it's fun to see what everyone does next), The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, And Then There Were None, Frankenstein, the list goes on.

Some books like Les Miserables, and Jules Verne in general from the few that I've read (despite some problematic elements) are just funny to me. It's been a long time since I've read either, but I remember thinking they were both very comedic once you get past some very long-winded sections.

Favorite siblings, friends, ships (canon or non-canon) in books and movies.
(Keep in mind, all of this is subject to rapid change)

For books:

Siblings: Puck, Gabe, and Finn (The Scorpio Races)
Friends: The Raven Boys and Blue (The Raven Cycle)

Ships (canon): Howl and Sophie (Howl's Moving Castle)

For Movies:

Siblings: At this current moment in time Katie and her brother from The Mitchell's vs. The Machines

Friends: I've been rewatching Parks and Rec again lately so I'm going to choose the whole main cast of that.

Ships (non-canon): Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann would have been a fun, possibly disastrous pairing, that I'm absolutely here for.

Are you a library user or more of a book buyer? Fast or slow reader

Both. Usually I order a book from the library, or borrow it from someone and then I'll buy it for myself if I like it. Although sometimes I'll just buy it.

I'm a fairly fast reader I think. Although compared to my sister I'm very slow.

What's something unique about yourself, family, or situation.

Not going to lie this question made me laugh. The answers I have for this...

There was a portion of time when I worked for my uncle as a nanny a couple years ago (is it already that long ago? sheesh) and I stayed with my grandma quite a bit on my days off. She's kind of crazy in the best way and I love her. I swear the time at her house works differently than most places. She also has a family of raccoons that we had to guard against and sometimes chase out of the house. I'm pretty sure my uncle (different uncle) is going to die getting rabies trying to pet raccoons. He's like a Disney princess when it comes to animals. I told him that and he fully accepts that title. He's still probably going to die though.

My uncle being a Disney princess wasn't the answer I thought I was going to put for this question but here we are. Animals just seem to love him. Particularly cats. I've seen him make special stops to feed strays the extra cat food he keeps in his car. It's so pure.

Dream pet. Favorite book animal.

I really don't think this answer is going to surprise anyone but I would love to have a fox.
My favourite book animal might be the snake that Mary talks to in the 'Secret Garden'. I don't know why but it always stuck with me.

Dream house.

To be honest, I've never personally been a huge fan of the modern house look (not that it doesn't look nice, it's just always felt a little impersonal) so I'd prefer an older house, although it wouldn't need constant repairs. It would rain fairly frequently, and there would be moss and twisty trees. If it could look slightly haunted (but I felt safe) that would be even better.

A castle could be fun. I'm not saying it would be practical, but if we're talking about dream houses, it's perfect.
The hat shop/flower shop/moving castle from Howl's Moving Castle.

Apparently I just want to live like Mabel in Gravity Falls

Dream travel location from a book.

There's so many places, but possibly Ingary from Howl's Moving Castle.

One real place I would love to go to is the Isle of Skye. Neil Gaiman wrote his introduction/forward for 'The Ocean At the End of the Lane' while he was at the Isle of Skye so I'm pretending that this counts as a valid answer.

Anyways, that's it! Hope you guys enjoyed it!
