A Request For Q&A Questions

I've wanted to do a Q&A for awhile now and so if anyone has questions, feel free to ask away. I'm not sure when I'll do it, but it'll hopefully be fairly soon. I haven't exactly planned this very well. There's the usual disclaimer that I won't answer anything super personal (like address or anything obviously bad to put on the internet) and I can't guarantee I'll answer every question, but feel free to ask whatever. The end product is up to me anyways. If you feel up to asking questions that would be great, although there's no pressure if you'd rather not. That being said, I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with!

On a related note, do people prefer having the questions organized by who asked them? or do you care if they are all jumbled together? I'm fine with either.

A Tip Of The Iceberg Ramble Addressing My Love Of Angry Characters

It's not a clean song but it fits perfectly.

Now to clarify before I continue further, when I say angry, I don't mean the psychopathically self-entitled anger that feels twisted, gross, and just wrong, but I do love rage on it's own. I love characters that are broken, fighting, confused, hungry, messy, angry, complicated...There's something very cathartic about it.

There's something about a deep running kind of anger that captures my attention. A bone deep kind of anger, not the 'I waited too long for my food, I kinda want to punch a wall now' type of anger. There's a sort of reclaiming honesty to it. Female rage for example, and not the the cheap kind that feels pandering.

I love blood covered characters, standing there panting, shaking, angry, screaming even, and annoyed with it all. I love it in it's messy grotesqueness. It's beautiful. Just yes to everything about it. The wild, feral, guttural, honesty of it. Sometimes my appreciation for blood-covered characters isn't that deep, it's just one of those things that I see and I go 'YESS!!' but still.

Sometimes I think we seem to love a character that has sharp edges but then we tend to try soften/water them down to justify it. But the thing is, we liked them when they were at their harshest. It's not that you can't redeem the character or they can't change, but it has to fit their character in their truest form, and not become a watered down version. Because we loved them when they were a beast, we shouldn't be shocked when they do beastly things. And when they change for the better, they still have the capacity to be a beast. Just because they become better doesn't mean they don't miss it, struggle with it, or don't still have the capability to be one.

On the topic of 'better characters' sin-sick characters are usually struggling little balls of cynicism and anger, disgust, and I love them. (edit: I was going to do a more in-depth sin-sick character post, but in the possibly that I don't get to it, I should credit Megan Chappie  for the word 'sin-sick' in her post for 'A List of Sin-Sick Characters of Which I Am Prodigiously Fond' . I didn't know what the word was for it and it's changed my life.)

And on the flip side, we all love a good old-fashioned villain. We love a villain that is perfectly content being exactly what they are, no apologies made. They take their own self-justified rage (and sometimes full unapologetic awareness for whatever monstrous thing they're doing) and run with it. (Count Olaf as an example anyone?) We have so many nice characters, sometimes it's nice to have characters that aren't 'nice'.

I love angry characters that also love soft things. For whatever reason, these angry sharp-edged characters make the soft thing feel even more meaningful and ironically purer.

Rage can be beautiful. It can be messy, it can be protective, it can feel like self-respect and it can be healing in the weirdest way. Rage can also be colder than ice. Characters that have hit that point and are out for blood can be some of my favourites. It's part of the reason why I adore the 'Final Girl' trope so much.

Sometimes loving the harshness and anger of these characters also makes you appreciate the soft ones even more. And once again, sometimes you don't have to choose between a character having an edge to them or simply be soft. You can have both. Sometimes the softest ones are the angriest of them all and sometimes they're not.

Sometimes my love of angry characters is not that deep. It's just fun to watch and they add so much to the story. Rage-filled characters who aren't rage-filled in an inspiring way, are amazing too.

To sum up, I love characters filled with rage. They're not the only characters I love obviously, but sometimes the angry ones need more appreciation.

Yeah, I'm drawing a blank on facts, so we'll save that for later.

Three things about myself:

1.

I have a tendency when I find something I like (particularly with clothes) to with stick with that thing until it physically falls apart. It's actually kind of a problem.

2.

Not sure if this counts but...

I have a personal headcanon that 'Betty,' the girl who's perspective Taylor Swift sings from in 'Cardigan,' is the girl in 'Seven' who's name Taylor Swift can't remember. My reasoning for this headcanon is that there's the line 'leaving like a father, running like water' from 'Cardigan' and then in 'Seven' there's mentions of 'I think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad, and that must be why' and 'and we can be pirates, then you won't have to cry or hide in the closet'

I think the fact that Taylor Swift can't recall the person's face and the possible underlying 'father/dad' storyline adds to the 'passed down like folk-songs' idea that she was going for. Most likely I just read into that way too much, but I've thought that since I heard the songs and I've wanted to talk about it. Anyone else agree/disagree? I'd love to know.

3.

I have dirty blonde hair and blue eyes

McKayla's Questions

If you were spontaneously given the lead role in your favorite musical with a day to learn all your lines, what would be your gut reaction?

Among several other reactions and responses.

Now if I didn't have anxiety, a crushing fear of failure, and actually had the required skills to star in a musical, this might be a different story. There's a few I'd love to do if I had the ability.

If you could have dinner with one cast member from one of your favorite shows, who would it be?

I think we're talking about the real actors, but I think the character they play would be fun too. I wouldn't call it my favourite show but Jaskier/Joey Batey from the Witcher. Are we noticing a theme at all?

If we're talking about musical cast members then possibly, as far as most recent favourite musicals go, either Eva Noblezada or Reeve Carney from HadesTown. Although there's so many others I'd love to meet too.

What is your opinion on bunnies?

I think they're adorable.

Years ago, fairly close to where I lived at the time, the area had a feral rabbit problem so it was pretty common to just see rabbits all over the place. I was too young to care about the politics of it but I still laugh over the fact that a city had very divided opinions about what to do about it. Petitions were made, it was discussed in community meetings, there was controversy, deals were made, rabbits were rampant in the streets. Again my knowledge of what was happening was just like "There's bunnies!!" I don't know what the extent of what happened even was but I love that I remember that it was a major thing at one time. City Hall had had enough of their feral rabbits and they were cracking down. And eventually, at some point, you realized that the rabbits were just gone.

City Hall getting the job done

(obviously I'm kidding)

Who's your favorite unlikable/problematic/villainous/just not very nice character and why?

Billy Hargrove was the first person that popped into my head so for simplicities sake I'm going to stick with him. He got a character arc in season 3 but in season 2 he was a complete jerk to put it nicely. That being said, I did kind of like him in season 2. I thought he added something to the show. He had a very intense presence and he was just really good at it. He had a style. It was interesting to watch. Maybe it was the added stakes and on-edge energy that he brought into each scene that captured my attention, I don't know. Have I mentioned that Dacre Montgomery is an amazing actor?

I was going to let myself do more but once I put more then one I couldn't stop myself.

Which do you prefer: ketchup or mustard?

Depends on the thing or the day.
As far as hotdogs go ketchup and mustard are my two go-to condiments anyway.
I'm going to say ketchup because of fries, but mustard is a fairly common one for me.

If you haven't already been tagged for it and you feel like doing it then

(from Violette's Universe)

(from Rose Petals and Fairy Dust)

(From The Pen and The Cross)

(From Bookshire)

And anyone else that wants to do it.

My Questions:

What is the first pairing you remember shipping?

What is the weirdest, most unusual, or one-of-a-kind thing you own?

If you had a surprise birthday being thrown for you, what are 3 fictional characters you would want to be there and why? or (What fictional character would you pull a prank on someone with?)

If you could steal a costume or an outfit from a show/movie, which one would you take?

What was the last line in a book, line in a movie, or lyric in a song that hit you hard?

Does Anyone Know This Movie or Did I Make It Up?

A really long time ago, I swear I saw a movie with my mom and my aunt but I've never been able to find out what it was. I don't remember anything of the movie really except that there was this guy who took this girl's brother for some reason. It was kind of a surreal movie. I remember her opening doors that would lead her completely different places and sometimes she wouldn't realize the room she was in wasn't real. One time she opened a door, I assume at some sort of party or in suburban house, possibly with her mom making breakfast at one point, and she either opened a door or she looked out the window and suddenly she was in this grassy, hilly, blue/partly cloudy sky and then the guy that took her brother opened a door where there shouldn't have been one and was showing her a bunch of different places. I don't remember if he was asking her if she knew what was real or not. At some point she opened a door and saw her brother and the kidnapper guy at this counter drinking something at the counter. I remember her asking her brother later what he was drinking and he said what it was and she said she thought he had turned into one of them or had turned evil because she thought he was drinking coffee even though he hated coffee.

I vaguely remember the kidnapper guy, he had dark brown hair and a moustache I think. Years later I saw a photo of the 'Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader' guy Jeff Foxworthy and thought he looked similar to the guy I remembered in the movie. But again his hair was a lot darker. Maybe he just looks similar because the character had a similar haircut and mustache.

I think the guy wore a gray suit or something. It might have been an 80s movie but I have no idea. Even if this is actually a movie, I may have remembered things completely wrong. Maybe I combined a couple movies in my head and forgot. Maybe it was a fever dream. Who knows.

I watched Labyrinth years ago because the plot of the movie sounded similar to what I remembered but it wasn't the same thing. I remember the movie (at least the bits I remember) being very suburban.

Not sure if this post made any sense but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about. I doubt it, since there's a very good chance that I made this movie up, but I always thought it was real.

Does anyone happen to know what this movie was? Do you have any shows or movies that you remember but have no idea what they are?

Song Association

I've been watching a lot of those song association videos (either created or inspired by ELLE on Youtube) with famous music artists and I wanted to try it. Essentially in the video you get a random word and you have 10 seconds to think of a song and sing the lyric that contains the word. Although I took much longer then 10 seconds for some of these. Also most of these songs aren't clean (For the most part it's just because of a word or two of language, but still.)

This doesn't actually have a reason to be here but I like it so...
