March Week

I've been working on a story idea I've had recently. As far as actual written story goes...

This is sort of a rough prologue thing I guess? So maybe it does count as something story wise, not that it matters. This is more for me than anything.

It was the stint of time before March Week in which the smart left on vacation, locals locked their houses, brown bags carried more than whiskey, and the Witchery stocked up on ingredients.

The town had been plagued by a strange phenomenon for the last few years. Sometimes it was just a dark swirl in the sky. Sometimes it caused storms and was a general nuisance to the fishing boats as it scared the fish, and no one could predict when it would happen next. Once it had caused a thick fog to fall on the town for two days. On more than one occasion it was blamed for crimes it hadn't really caused.
One benefit of the occurrence was that it bothered the mermaids who lived in the harbour and were known to kidnap humans. Their, at least temporary, disappearance was a great relief to everyone.

It had been early discovered that no one could do anything about it. It was a freak storm that they just had to weather out. It was wildly unpredictable and sometimes happened for days at a time. At others, it happened only a couple times a year. For the most part they had learned to live with it but it was incredibly inconvenient when they organized a large yearly event- namely the yearly fireworks.

When the fireworks were to be held, there was a period of about a week in which anyone that could do magic tried everything they could to prevent the occurrence from happening- at least until the event was over. This resulted in the generally accepted name of 'March Week' which was more a reference to the phrase 'mad as a march hare' rather than it occurring in the month of March specifically. As no one knew how to actually prevent the occurrence from happening, the magic users grew increasingly wild with throwing out any spells they thought might help and the non magic users growing increasingly irritated with the magicians which led to the madness of what made March Week.

This idea is supposed to be set in a small magical seaside town. Magical in a more...Diana Wynne Jones way. She's been a huge inspiration for this. Probably too much. I have a more or less main character called Ridley Goth who works at the Witchery or lives there, I don't know yet. She has a memory problem so she takes a lot of photos and has notes and stuff.

Things. Details. Stuff.
I have a board if anyone is curious.

Bugs Bunny Headcanon

This is a super random post but I'd forgotten about this story and thought it was entertaining. It's also incredibly short.

So a few years ago my Grandpa and Uncle were doing a motorcycle trip in the States and they came to the famous Albuquerque intersection and they decided to try take the left turn at Albuquerque and it led them to a casino apparently. So it's a family headcanon that Bugs Bunny is a gambling addict. I wish I could remember if they said the name of the casino it would make this story more legit sounding. But it did in fact happen as far as I've been told.

I just can't help but laugh and admire the commitment that they had to make a detour in their motorcycle trip for this. They saw the opportunity and they took it.

Strange Moths

I wasn't going to do a post today. I still felt a little exhausted after my last post and couldn't believe it had been a week already. I don't really know if I have a blogging schedule but it might be sporadic for the next while. Who knows what will happen.

Anyways I found this moth around and because I have a need to pick things up like a goblin, I did. It's called a cabbage moth and (the caterpillars) are really bad for plants but I also get excited when I see them flying around because it's like little white butterflies.

I have no idea why but it stuck around with me for awhile. I wasn't even just sitting still. I tried to feed it grape juice which didn't work. I have no idea what moths eat. I watered some plants. I changed settings on my camera to take a picture of it, walked around outside with it, walked around inside with it, grabbed some food for myself, moved it around to sit on my knee. it wasn't going anywhere. I've never had a bug sit on me for so long before with the exception of possibly some honeybees but they don't really count as the same thing. Yes, I know that sounds weird but my mom started petting bees and picking them up off the sidewalk one day and I never stopped doing it myself after. There's a kind of power you feel carrying and petting bees. It's a thing I do. Respect the thing.

Anyways back to the subject...

Me and my entire family thought maybe it was going to die on me but it ended up flying away so...I guess I may have indirectly killed half our future plants which my sister nicely said is most likely but hey.

If anyone ever asked me what my days are like I really wouldn't know what to tell them

Geraniums, Poets and Pirates

We had a geranium sitting in water and I wanted to take photos. Because I can never make things simple for myself I thought a half-dead geranium seemed to suit a slightly sad poet vibe. Cue a photoshoot instead of just a photo of a flower.

I had an idea for a geranium with a violin.
And then it somehow morphed into a romantic looking piratey thing because I didn't take into consideration that dead flowers and old books make things look romantic. I was making imitation looking rum and absinthe at 11:00 o'clock at night.  The rum was a lot lighter in person than it is in the photos.

My whole process in a nutshell

Anyways without further ado...

Sorry if any of these photos were hard to see
